Al-Arafah Islami Bank has inaugurated a tree plantation program on the premises of Chittagong University. The program was inaugurated on Sunday, August 17, with the slogan “Let’s do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh” by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Md. Yahia Akhter. Managing Director (CC) of the Bank Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan, was present as a special guest at the event.
Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan said that Al-Arafah Islami Bank is socially responsible for the development of the country’s environment, conservation of biodiversity and reducing the impact of climate change. As part of this responsibility, we are playing an active role in the afforestation activities of Chittagong University.
Under the overall supervision of the University’s Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, rallies, seminars and planting of various species of trees were organized as part of the day-long program.
The program was attended by the Deputy Managing Director of the Bank Md. Fazlur Rahman Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Director of the Institute Professor Dr. Md. Akhter Hossain, Teachers of the University Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Hossain, Professor Dr. Md. Al Amin, top executives of the Bank and a large number of students were present.
Al-Arafah Islami Bank has taken the initiative of a nationwide tree plantation program in 2025 under its social responsibility program to green the country and address the risks of climate change. Under this program, 15,000 tree saplings will be planted across the country through the bank’s branches.
