Bangladesh team won 6 bronze medals at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO-2025). Al-Arafah Islami Bank is the title sponsor of the Bangladesh team at the International Junior Science Olympiad.

This international Olympiad, with the participation of 25 countries, was held in the tourist city of Sochi on the Black Sea coast of Russia from November 23 to December 1. A 6-member Bangladesh team participated in the IJSO and all six achieved the honor of winning medals this time as well. The winners were awarded their medals at a grand ceremony at a convention hall on the Black Sea coast on December 1.

Bronze medals were won by Abrar Jahin Pathan, a class 8 student of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Vihan Pal, a class 9 student of Ideal School and College, Ahnaf Ahmed Sinan of Chittagong Cantonment Public College, HM Azizur Rahman Alif, a class 9 student of Golgatha English Medium School, and Nashwan Haque Mahir, a class 9 student of Dhaka Residential Model College and Ruffa Noor Jariyah, a class 10 student at Jessore Police Lines Secondary School. They achieved this medal by competing with 25 countries from different regions of the world.

It is worth noting that every year, the Bangladesh team for the International Junior Science Olympiad, sponsored by Al Arafah Islami Bank, is jointly selected by the Bangladesh Science Popularization Association and the Bangladesh Freedom Foundation.

The 11th edition of the Al Arafah Islami Bank Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad began in July this year. The online selection phase began in August and September with about 17,000 students.

After 6 regional rounds, an e-Olympiad, and 10 upazila-level school Olympiads, the national round and camp were organized in Dhaka. From there, this six-member team was selected. In the last 10 years, the Bangladesh team has won 15 silver and 24 bronze medals from the IJSO.
