Head of Chattogram Central Region Hafez Mohammad Salamat Ullah and Head of Chittagong Outskirt Region AFM Faisal Kabir were present as special guests. Head of Agent Banking Department Mohammad Momtazul Haque presided over the meeting.
The day-long program featured detailed discussions among agent outlet owners, branch managers, outlet managers, and selected customers regarding operational challenges, possible solutions, deposit growth strategies, and ways to ensure modern and cashless banking services through Digital Dan Box, Bangla QR, Islamic Wallet, i-Banking, and other digital channels introduced by the Bank’s Digital Banking Division.
In his speech, Chief Guest Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiyan stated that agent banking has created a significant opportunity to bring underserved and unbanked rural populations under formal banking services. He mentioned that Al-Arafah Islami Bank is working to make these services easier, safer, and more efficient through digital banking initiatives. He also urged agents, branch managers, and outlet managers to work in a coordinated manner to increase deposits, improve customer service, and accelerate financial inclusion activities.
During the program, customers were also made aware of secure transaction practices, including biometric (fingerprint) authentication at agent outlets, collecting auto-generated transaction receipts, and verifying transactions through SMS notifications. Participants were further encouraged to adopt cashless banking services through Bangla QR, Digital Dan Box, Islamic Wallet, and i-Banking.
At the end of the event, participants expressed their commitment to strengthening agent banking operations through mutual cooperation and coordination, expanding modern and Shari’ah-compliant banking services to grassroots communities, and working collectively to implement Bangladesh Bank’s directives. The courtyard session concluded with a Munajat.
