As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and with the aim of contributing to environmental conservation and greening efforts, Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has undertaken a tree plantation program on the premises of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). In his speech, Managing Director Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan said, “Environmental conservation and greening are important components of our social responsibility. Through this tree plantation program at BUET, we aim to convey a positive message about environmental protection.”

BUET Registrar Professor Dr. N.M. Golam Zakaria, Professor Dr. Tahsin Reza Hossain of the Department of Civil Engineering, Associate Professor Sheikh Ahsan Ullah Majumder of the Department of Architecture, Chief Engineer Engr. A. K. The speakers emphasized the importance of extensive tree plantation in protecting the environment, addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, and ensuring sustainable development. They noted that tree plantation can play a significant role in maintaining ecological balance, conserving biodiversity, improving air quality, and reducing the risks associated with climate change.

As part of its continued efforts to promote greening across the country and address the risks of climate change, Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has, as in previous years, taken an initiative this year to implement tree plantation programs at eight leading universities across the country, including the University of Dhaka and the University of Chittagong, as well as at two branches of the Bank. Under the initiative, native forest, fruit-bearing, and medicinal trees will be planted, while proper care and maintenance of the planted saplings will also be ensured.
